camping get-a-way

We decided that we wanted to get out of town...
So we looked at a map and picked a spot...
Packed up the car...
and went.

We found a perfect little spot off the beaten path and set up camp

We made pancakes in the morning... with a creative use of tin foil for a griddle

It was a nice relaxing camping trip, just the way I like it.

We talked about what we love about camping (the fresh air, birds chirping, looking at the stars, good food, camp fires & s'mores) and what we hate (bugs, having to pee in the morning when it is so cold, smelling like campfire, bugs, having dirty hands... and did I mention bugs)

We went on a "hike" (okay it was mostly a walk) around the reservoir.  That is about all my knee can handle for now.

Found a picnic table and had lunch.

Little did we know, we were being "unlawful" the whole time we were using the picnic table.  Apparently the campground we were eating lunch at didn't open for 2 more days (according to a strange gristly man) and we weren't allowed to use the picnic table to eat lunch until the campground had been inspected... who knew :)

We shared a wheat thin or two with some curious creatures.

I did a great deal of reading and relaxing.

Jake gathered wood and did other manly camping things...

That night we made marvelous tin foil dinners

 and peanut butter s'mores :)

The next day we went on a pretty safe (but uphill and rather exhausting) mountain bike ride. It was fun to spend some quality time in the outdoors, instead of being cooped up in a hospital or basement of a hotel working.
