Today is my last day of school for the spring semester! This semester has been the. worst. ever.
1. tore my ACL
2. case mappings & treatment plans
3. knee surgery
4. lost ability to enjoy life (see 1 & 2)
But lucky for me and all of you... (my faithful readers) I will be back for a while.
Let me catch you up on the last month of my life...
First of all, here is my poor little knee from day 4 til today (6 weeks post op)
ice machine
bruising "that should go away"
and after 6 weeks, it finally almost is.
nice bruising on my leg
I had a strange dent in my knee that I thought I was going to have to live with, but it's gone!
As of my last PT appointment (one week ago) my motion was 112 degrees of flexion, last night I was up to 125, and I am going to PT today. I had a doctors appointment this week and they said everything looked great, my knee was a little stiff and put me on a high dose of ibuprofen. Hopefully it will help and get it moving. I can actually ride a stationary bike, which makes going to the gym a lot more enjoyable.
After my two weeks off of school after surgery, I had to jump back into the school thing. It was tough to focus with all the other stuff going on in my life, but I somehow managed to turn in all my assignments and finish presentations and papers on time. It has been really hard for me not to be able to go to the gym (like normal) or go for a walk or a bike ride, now that the weather is good.
I am suppose to be able to golf at 8 weeks (2 weeks from now) so we will see.
sad courtney?
what makes me happy?
1. pineapple mango smoothie
2. nielsen's frozen custard. best stuff on earth.
3. new Easter dress ;)
4. pedicure
5. the Jazz... on to the playoffs!
Now I have to survive my finals next week. Three finals. Let me tell you about each of them, since I seem to be enjoying lists today.
1. Evaluation - No use of notes or books or resources. Written in the style of the NBCOT (boards for OT school) scary test, 80 questions.
2. Skills - Open resource (notes and books), includes a skills lab portion; manual muscle test, range of motion screen, transfers, and muscles grading
3. Theory - Open resource, we were given a study guide listing a bunch of stuff we didn't even learn in this class. awesome.
Last and best of all, this was our final in Cognition last week, titled "Last Class (ever) with Beth"
Beth is my favorite teacher. The final was all questions about her, that we should have learned over the last two years. Ha, she is the best.
After finals I have to go to my 2 week fieldwork at a transitional rehab place. Then I start right into my summer internship at the University of Utah Hospital on the inpatient rehab floor. I will work M-F about 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at both places.
