remember when...

you were 15?

and going to the State Fair was the best thing ever?

I remember when I was about 15 and Rascal Flatts played at the Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot.  My girlfriends and I left right after school to go and stand in line for good seats.  It was a blast, scoping out the guys, giggling, eating tiger's ears and wishing we could go on the ferris wheel with a cute boy...

Well, this year was probably better. 

The Utah State Fair is pretty great.  This is my second time going, and the first time was fun.

We got ticket to a free concert.  Parachute. I knew two of their songs, and they are both good.

We ended up being the only people over 20.  So we decided to act like we were 15 again...

The band was not that great... They were trying to to be a little more rock and roll than they really were.  Oh well :)  We decided to walk around the fair and scope things out...

I actually had a boy to ride the ferris wheel with... maybe next year?

We raced down the big yellow slide, like 15 year olds would do... but then we really got crazy...

Ever heard of dance dares?  If you haven't, you need to google Ellen's Dance Dares... 

It involved dancing behind someone without them seeing you....

Sounds like something a 15 year old would do, right?

That is exactly what we did the rest of the night, and it was hilarious.

I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time.  

And we took videos.

If you are lucky I might post one or two someday :)

{bear lake}

The last weekend of summer we escaped to Bear Lake with the Larsen's.

 We stopped and raced go carts.

Estee and I just watched and took the photos :)

Bear Lake was awesome!

We played in the water, lounged on the beach, 

played football,

played frisbee,

built sandcastles, 

rode jet-skis,

had a picnic,

and just enjoyed the last weekend of summer!

That night we ate at Cafe Sabor with Mike and Amber while the kids went home with Grandpa and Grandma.  

It was fun to spend time with family, especially our cute niece and nephew!

Before school started, back in August,  I wanted to finish up a few projects.  This was one that I was excited and nervous about.  

Excited to use real paint to paint something, but nervous about the color I chose...

This is an old coffee table that I inherited from my Grandma Webb. I wanted to paint it bright to bring a pop of color into our living room.  

With a green couch, it's hard to add pops of color.  I recently got some cute pillows from pier one and they were my inspiration.

First we had to strip the old finish.

Jake was good at the stripping part. Ha.

Then we had to prime it....

Then paint!  Chickadee Yellow!

I even wore a yellow shirt in celebration.

After two coats of paint it was so bright a cheery... I had one final step...

Antique Glaze.

The glaze certainly toned down the brightness of the yellow to my liking. 

Finished product!  It certainly adds some color to the room :)

{four} years

October 11th makes it four years...

Four years of marriage calls for a celebration!  

We decided to head south for an anniversary road trip to Scottsdale, Arizona.

We stayed in a Kimpton resort called Firesky, another perk of Jake's job working for Hotel Monaco.  Here's a few pictures of the grounds and the lobby.  It was a beautiful resort!

We had a few things we wanted to accomplish.  Relax, shop, golf and eat.

We loved the pool.  Not many people around, and the weather was perfect.

There was so many golf courses around, we weren't sure how to choose.  We picked one that was close and had good prices.  It ended up being a really fun course.

The night of our anniversary we went to Mill Ave.  There is a story behind this... When we left for our honeymoon we missed our connecting flight to Mexico and had to stay a night in Phoenix.  We were so bummed, but the hotel they put us up in took us to Mill Ave so that we get some dinner.  We ate at a little place with fantastic pizza and a fun atmosphere.  We had such a fun night that we told each other that we have to come back someday... so four years later, we did!

After eating dinner at the same place we walked around some of the same shops that we looked in four years ago on our honeymoon!  It was pretty awesome. 

We went back to the resort to make s'mores...

and Jake surprised me with my gift!

We found a cute ice cream shoppe and had to try it out.

Our last night in Scottsdale we tried a restaurant called Olive & Ivy, it was divine.

We did more than just eat :)  

One morning we hiked Camelback mountain, it was not like mountains in Utah, but it was the first "hike" I have really been on since my knee surgery and it was fun!

We also rented bikes from the resort and rode around the town a little bit.

We actually rode right through the golf course that we played the day before.  They had a bike path that went all around the community, it was great!

On our way home we stopped at the Hoover Dam, quite impressive!

Our last stop was in St George to say hello to all of my aunts and uncles on the Webb side.  My parents were down south with them enjoying the sun.  It was SO good to see them!  They were all surprised about my recent hair coloring...

Overall we had a fabulous anniversary trip.  It was a much needed vacation and the only bad thing was that it ended too quickly!
