We got to go on a much needed vacation with my family! We went to central Oregon, my brother Chris and his wife Kelsey couldn't come to Mexico this year because of their new baby so my parents planned this trip with them and invited us along if we could get some time off! Well we were lucky enough to be able to join them!! What do you do in Oregon, you say???
We stayed at a place called Eagle Crest, near Redmond, Oregon. It was so nice and it was a perfect place for our family to go. There were 3 golf courses, right on the resort! Places to fish, stores to shop, bike trails to ride and a pool to lay by! My kind of vacation!
There was even a putting course. This a pic of the course, it looks just like a real golf course, just mini!! It was an 18 hole course that you play just like a golf course, only with your putter the whole time. It was so sweet, little sand traps, water hazards and tricky pin placements! And Jake beat me!! I shot a great round of 61 on the par 72, but Jake shot 59!!
We did some regular golfing on a few very beautiful courses. We had a lot of fun playing with my dad and listening to his great tips. He is such a good teacher and Jake is getting better and better! We played with my brother and dad a couple times and with my mom and dad one morning.
The coolest thing that happened was..... there was a Demo day at the resort golf course where all the different reps, like callaway, taylormade, titlest and nike all come so that you can try out their clubs. They had a putting, chipping and longest drive contest. We went up there and decided to try out all the latest and greatest. My brother, dad and I decided to sign up for the longest drive contest and were all in seprate divisions. There weren't too many ladies but I was SOOOO nervous. All the men were around watching and my hands were shaking. I hit 3 shots and then waited nervously to see if anyone else would hit it farther....... I WON!!! And the prize was a brand new driver!!!!! The exact one that I wanted! So then my dad stood up and was one yard short of winning!! Next, was my brother, he creamed one 296 yrds uphill into the wind..... and he won beating all of the big muscley guys!! Brother and sister winners! They must put something in the water in Idaho :)
We also got to spend the whole week with my adorable nephew Logan!!! He is five 1/2 months now and he just keeps getting cuter and cuter. He smiles and coos whenever I smile and say his name. He makes me feel like a million bucks! How could you ever be sad when you have such an sweet little boy around.
He went swimming for the first time when we were in Oregon and he has a pretty cool swim floaty. He was pretty relaxed in the pool, sitting in the shade!
One day when the boys all went fishing, My mom, Kelsey, Logan and I went into a town called Sisters to go shopping! It was a fun little town, kind of like Jackson Hole. It was fun to look around at all the little shops. We had a picnic in the park and ice cream from a parlor. My mom and I found these crazy red hats!!
We brought our bikes all the way from Logan so we could ride them around on all the bike trails. We had a blast riding, there were trails in and around all the golf courses and some beautiful homes. We got some great exercise, there were some steep hills to climb!
We hiked around a little by the river that went past our place and we had quite the view. You can almost see one of the holes from the golf course in this pic, the course was just cut out of the trees.
But all that exercising went to pot because we ate so much good food! Here's my dad grilling up some kabobs, this was my one of my dinner nights! Each of the girls was in charge or two dinners and the boys made breakfasts. We had mandarin chicken, french dip sandwiches, juicy hamburgers, lime chicken tacos, and home-made lasagna! For breakfast the boys made waffles, egg sandwiches, french toast and fresh fruit and yogurt. We ate ALOT!!
Logan decided that after he watched us eat all this food all week, he wanted to eat some, so we dished up a few waffles topped with ice cream......
We had so much fun and we are sad it's over! Happy Fathers Day DAD!! I LOVE YOU! Thanks for taking us on such a great trip!!
